Réflexions sur la préservation des centres urbains traditionnels dans un contexte de Modernisation

Cas de la médina de Bou-Saada

Résumé: Le cadre bâti des centres urbains traditionnels, comme la médina de Bou-Saada, subit les effets d’une urbanisation rapide, menaçant son intégrité patrimoniale. Notre étude applique la syntaxe spatiale pour analyser les dynamiques urbaines et identifier les facteurs de dégradation. Les résultats révèlent une diversité des espaces : certains rénovés, d’autres abandonnés. Cette hétérogénéité impose une approche ciblée conciliant modernisation et préservation. L’intégration des espaces traditionnels dans une planification cohérente permettrait un développement équilibré. Nos recommandations visent à préserver l’identité culturelle tout en répondant aux besoins contemporains. La médina de Bou-Saada illustre ces défis, soulignant l’importance d’une stratégie durable pour assurer sa pérennité face aux transformations urbaines.

Abstract: The built environment of traditional urban centers, such as the medina of Bou-Saada, is undergoing rapid urbanization, threatening its heritage integrity. Our study applies space syntax to analyze urban dynamics and identify factors contributing to degradation. The results reveal a diversity of spaces: some renovated, others abandoned. This heterogeneity requires a targeted approach balancing modernization and preservation. Integrating traditional spaces into a coherent urban planning strategy would ensure balanced development. Our recommendations aim to preserve cultural identity while addressing contemporary urban needs. The medina of Bou-Saada exemplifies these challenges, highlighting the necessity of a sustainable strategy to ensure its longevity amid urban transformations.
